Is Nutriiveda Creating a Paradigm Shift in Treatment of Seizures?
Request for upcoming preclinical research from the lead doctor for those that have not already shared with us:
“”One thing that would help us is if you have – or can access -information on the patients that are currently taking NV for seizures, in terms of the type of seizures or epilepsy they are experiencing.
This would be extremely helpful in identifying the appropriate model which best mimics the human condition (where we already know that it works).”
If you would be willing to be share for the purpose of preclinical research please email me direct at lisa@cherab.org
For about 20 months now there are now well over one thousand children, teens and adults that have been on a whole food supplement called Nutriiveda, or “NV” as it’s been nicknamed through the Cherab Foundation, a grassroots nonprofit advocacy group to support those with communication impairments. We are talking about the original Nutriiveda, not Nutriiveda Achieve which we don’t have experience with. For those with impairments, the rapid and dramatic success rate of this whole food product has been almost across the board with both parental and professional anecdotal reports detailing improvements in various areas for those with autism, apraxia, seizures, traumatic brain injury etc. have been both rapid and dramatic. While most of our reports are in the pediatric population because that is the main profile of the Cherab Foundation outreach, the top two reports are in the adult population to demonstrate that the same affects reported are also being found in adults with epilepsy.
Christine is an adult mother of 4 who had cancer and then radiation which created a lesion in her front temporal lobe. The lesion on the right front temporal lobe caused her to start having simple partial seizures typically 1 every 3 days. Christine said “It’s not that my seizures are life threatening but I have 4 children so there is a safety issue with the seizures taking care of the children. And I don’t like taking the seizure medication because it made me feel out of it and it’s very difficult to take care of the children feeling like that.”
Christine started NV at just one scoop a day and went 12 days without a seizure. She then said she stopped taking Nutriiveda because she didn’t think it had to do with Nutriiveda “It just seemed impossible.” The seizures came back. Christine is now steady every day on Nutriiveda original with no seizures and she is now convinced it’s the original Nutriiveda that is somehow raising her seizure threshold to where she no longer is having seizures and without any medicaiton.
“Do you know how many adults there are like me that have partial absence seizures that should know about this? People should know about this because it’s really changed my life. I don’t have to take any seizure medication and I am seizure free because of this original Nutriiveda.” ~Christine mom of 4
25 year old female was put on NV due to her medication resistant Grand Mal seizures. Once on NV the seizures stopped. So far the seizure medication has been reduced and the doctor plans on elimination of seizure medication. A brain scan showed a normal healthy brain and the the doctor said there is no other explanation other than it must be the original Nutriiveda.
In addition to the above testimonials in adults, we have numerous reports now of medication resistant epileptic children and teens being put on NV with the same results; no more seizures, taken off all seizure medications and continuing to remain seizure free. For one full example of a child who is a patient of Kaiser with medication resistant epilepsy with Grand Mal seizures, severe autism, mental retardation and hypotonia now off three medications with remarkable progress in numerous areas read Is Nutrition Solving The Autism Puzzle?
In one case the child who had been on two medications was scheduled to have part of his front temporal lobe removed. Just because medication and surgery have been the only answer for treatment of seizures prior, there is growing science linking amino acids and diet to raising seizure thresholds which should be explored further. The following are actual results the individuals or the family members gave permission to share here, and all are willing to speak with professionals. Cases like the ones below which are happening with the supplementation of all of the essential amino acids and nutrients from whole foods as in NV document the need to understand the role that nutrition plays on somehow helping neurological function. We are providing these anecdotal stories in hopes that these cases can be validated in a double blind clinical trial. Most do not fully appreciate the important role that nutrition has on the body, the brain. 10 year old male with apraxia, autism and seizure disorders. Last seizure was during first week on nv and child remains seizure free to this day going on 10 months as of October 2010, 3 months now off medication. Prior to NV he on 2 medications and scheduled for a partial lobotomy at Kennedy Krieger …child never needed nor had the surgery once on nv. In addition to elimination of seizures and increases to speech and language, and no more of son complaining his head hurts.
Note from parent about 4 months into putting her son on NV “I was told about it back in January and of course I was thinking it was like a million other products out there that parents with special needs children try. However, being skeptical I did order it and started my son (9yrs) on it once a day (2 scoops). Shortly after he started it I noticed very slight differences. He seemed to have a healthy look or glow to him; his temper seemed to have leveled off instead of extreme highs and lows. My son seemed to be grasping or understanding language a bit more too. The most drastic of all the changes is that as of today my son remains seizure free!! My son has been having uncontrolled seizures for three years now despite whatever medications we have tried. He has gone through many types of testing procedures and we were on the road to have a surgery consult to remove the portion of his right temporal lobe where his seizures were occurring. Today my son is drinking NV twice a day (4 scoops) and is seizure free going on 15 weeks! We have dropped his seizure medications twice now and still remain seizure free. I remain optimistic that when we hit the six months marker my son’s neurologist will help us to slowly remove all seizure medications. I am in awe of NV and what it has done for our family.” The above can also be found here
Note from parent right after 6 months seizure free from NV “I am very skeptical about most things. I do think out of the box but for us we do not do any special diets or minerals. With that being said there is not one thing in NV that would be harmful so I put (my then 9 year old son) on it back on Jan. 2010. My son is very verbal but struggles with speech/Lang and a whole other host of issues. My biggest concern back in Jan. was my 9 year old’s uncontrolled seizures, which were ever two weeks at best. As of last week Matthew has hit SIX months seizure free!!!! And I type that with tears in my eyes. So if you ask me is it worth trying NV I would have to say hell ya!!!!
Second update.
Matthew who for five years was on multiple seizure medications, considered for surgery to remove part of his front temporal lobe for his medication resistant seizures, once put on the nutritional food source Nutriiveda, went over one year with no seizures. Matthew’s medication after being reduced a few times. was eliminated. and yet he still remained seizure free. He passed the one year mark seizure free without any seizures. Everyone was thrilled!
Mom reduced Matthew’s Nutriiveda dosage in half for a few months and he still didn’t have any seizures. Around February of 2011 Mom didn’t give Matthew any Nutriiveda for two weeks. About 3 days later Matthew once again had a seizure, his first seizure after being seizure free for over one year. We are not sure if Matthew was on a full dosage the entire time if at one point Nutriiveda could have been stopped as we are noting that type of progress in other conditions. But as each ingredient in Nutriiveda is a food, and through the food it’s providing ALL of the essential amino acids and nutrients per serving., that would be something one needed daily one way or another. An essential nutrient is one that the body needs but can’t produce so needs to consume. Through food is the purest form of supplementation. If you need information to share with your child’s doctor there is a PDF here. If you would like to be in touch with any of the parents or professionals on any of the many pages now of testimonies and what is on this site is just a sampling as in many cases we are seeing an almost 100 percent success rate as the one SLP has found in her practice, please email us at info@pursuitofresearch.org

NV A Paradigm Shift In The Treatment Of TBI and Strokes
Is Nutriiveda Creating a Paradigm Shift in Treatment of Speech Impairments?
Is Nutriiveda Creating a Paradigm Shift in Diseases of the Elderly?
6 and a half year old with severe autism, mental retardation, and seizures. Child was previous on a medication for seizures and another for sleep. Due to NV both medication have been eliminated. Professionals that work with the child have noted changes. In addition to elimination of medications, improvements in motor planning, muscle tone, and mood are noted.
Note from parent “The biggest thing for us was that we stopped giving Logan the Topomax we’d been giving him for seizures and the Clonadine (sp?) we’d give him to aid his sleep. NV has completely controlled his seizures and his sleep is better than it’s ever been. Once we took him off the other meds his eyes began to twinkle again. We had just not noticed how much the meds had “dulled” him. He has returned to doing things like playing with certain toys, babbling and playing catch that he used to do before the meds but had given up. He exhibited much more ability to entertain himself and was more patient when he needed something.”
The following was written to our private online support group by one of the parents who has two children with autism, apraxia and epilepsy who are improving on Nutriiveda. She belongs to a local support group in Long Island NY and anyone that would like more information about these anecdotal reports please email me at lisa@cherab.org
Another child in my group in Long Island, NY has PKS, or Pallister-Killian Mosaic Syndrome (a rare chromosome abnormality) & has been on NV for 1 month. In just one month his parents have noticed that he can now hold his head up and sit up on the floor using his arms to steady himself, He is also is starting to grip with his fingers for the first time!!! AMAZING!!!!
Another one of the children of the parents in my support group for seizures at school that has been on Nutriiveda for about 6 months, she is now 5 yrs. old. When she first started Nutriiveda at around 4 and a half she was suffering from medication resistant Grand Mal seizures which affected her global development. She was at a little over 4 and a half years old not able to walk or talk.
Within one week of being on the NV she walked across the room for the FIRST time which AMAZED her parents.
She went seizure free for 5 weeks after that, and I recall the mom saying if all NV does is make it so that her daughter only has one seizure every 5 weeks they’d be happy with that. But 14 weeks passed before the next seizure, and zero seizures since then. She’s now SEIZURE FREE!!!”
6 month update from Gina, the mother of the little girl mentioned above
“My daughter has been seizure free these past few months and is also now not only walking all over, but has started to talk!! Her seizure medications have started to be reduced and still no seizures. Previous to her taking Nutriiveda at just under 5 years old she suffered from severe medication resistant Grand Mal seizures and was unable to walk or talk at all. She started to walk for the first time a week after taking Nutriiveda. It was incredible. I have so much hope.
9 month update from Gina
Our daughter remains seizure free, and this is in spite of all her medications being lowered, one being eliminated. It’s just incredible that she remains seizure free for the first time in her life. She is understanding so much more. She now not only says “ma” but she puts her hands up for me when she says it which melts my heart! She’s a different child and we have so much hope for her future. We are thrilled and are willing to share with anyone that wants to speak with us.”
14 years old with autism, apraxia with seizures. Teen was on seizure medication for 9 years to try to prevent his grand mal seizures. Prior to NV he had never had a normal eeg. Since nv teen has been seizure free going on 8 months and off all seizure medication. In addition, for the first time in his life, since NV teen now has a normal EEG. Numerous other improvements are noted (see note from parent below which was from right before medication was stopped) important to note: 14 year old’s 10 year old sister also diagnosed with autism, apraxia and seizures has similar and other improvements on NV
Note from parent “Hi Everyone, My children have had an incredible week! First off, (my 14 year old son) will be off his seizure medication Tegretol in 3 weeks! He has been on this med. for 9 years. I am thrilled for him to be off of medication since I am not a BIG fan of any meds. and their host of side effects.
This week he went on a school field trip to ____ Marine _____. He was with his teacher and speech therapist most of time. They were ecstatic that he was talking the whole day, saying “what’s that” and pointing,”come over here” “where we going”. He even responded to something that was said over the loud speaker!!
I spoke to the neurologist about NV when both of my children were on it for 3 wks already, and he told me to keep giving it to them, because he saw a change in them from the previous apt
I also noticed that my 14 year old son does multitask more. For example, he used to drink something and sit or stand in one place, but now he walks around with drinks or finger foods, also holding something in one hand and throwing something out with the other. He used to put down the one thing first and then do the 2nd thing. I think this is another positive result. Also my 10 year old daughter can now hold her cereal bowl up in the air and eat her cereal while watching TV! ( well the TV part is not that great but they have to have some vices too!)
Also they had their Special Olympic horseback riding lesson yesterday and it was the first day that the instructor was teaching them left and right turns. Well, (my 10 year old daughter) was pulling on the correct reins when the instructor called out and I didn’t even know that she knew her left from her right!! (my 14 year old son) did this as well!
They have been on NV since February and it’s not that I see something new every day but it’s consistent and they are definitely changing. We are even seeing improvements in the toileting area which is HUGE (you saw how old they are) in cooperation and success.
My daughter had a terrible sleep issue last year and it lasted about 8 months, she was waking up to 5 times a night, we were sleeping in there, it was a nightmare, finally her neuro. dr. put her on Clonidine, which is a blood pressure med. that they use on kids because 1. they don’t like to use sedatives on kids and 2. the main side effect is sleep. So we did that and behavioral. Well, we got her to the point of only waking up 1 time a night and this lasted for a couple of months, so I told the Dr. that I wanted her off the Clonidine, and I was just going to accept the fact that she (and I) would be waking up
every night. Well guess what, back in February when she started NV, she slept through the night after being on it 1 DAY!!! My husband and I were in shock, she is still sleeping through the night.”
